Quilting by the River Home page
Quilting by the River is a quilt design based company launched by
Daniel E. Burke in Lansing, Michigan.   Six months ago, my position was
eliminated, ending my 18 year career in the title insurance industry.  I
thought it was a perfect time to start a new career from a hobby I love!

I began quilting in 2006, taking a few classes, attempting to
master the
basics.  After my first class, I came across Judy Neimeyer's patterns and
fell in love....the first pattern I completed of Judy's was "
Hawaiian Star".
(See the Gallery page for a photo).  It was accepted at the Rocky Mountain
Quilt Museum in Golden, Colorado for the Exhibit "By the Hands of Men"
and was on display there from October 31, 2007 to February 2, 2008.  It
was very exciting for me.

In April, 2007, I met quilt designer Jacqueline deJonge
of Becolourful
from The Netherlands while we were both in Paducah, KY for the AQS
Show.  Her designs are incredible!  I knew I had to do one...so I bought 4
of them!  (See the Gallery page for photos of Jewel
, Rainbow Stars and
Joy.)  Jacqueline really inspired me to create my own designs.

I'm excited to announce Jacqueline will be in Michigan the
first week of October, 2009!  She will be conducting
workshops in Lansing and the surrounding area!  Stay
tuned for more info.

I enjoy custom work and welcome commissions.  I would be happy to do a
Trunk Show for you and begin a piece of Quilt Art for you!
